Challenge

In July 2017, Toromont Industries’ transformative $1 billion acquisition of the Hewitt Group of companies would establish the firm as one of the world’s largest heavy equipment dealers. But to be successful, it had to first overcome the potential culture sensitivities of a Toronto-based parent company acquiring a Montreal-based target.

How National helped

In addition to strategic and tactical investor relations support, media and government relations, National developed and managed an internal communications plan that successfully navigated the sometimes delicate cultural considerations between an English-speaking management team and French-speaking employees. National also provided on the ground support in Montreal, for an employee Townhall.
